How do I set up my Yahoo IM, MSN IM, GTalk IM, AIM accounts

First, you need to have a registered MSN, Yahoo! or AOL account before you can log in to any of these IM services. If you already have an existing IM account with MSN, Yahoo! or AOL/AIM, follow the instructions below:

Step 1: Go to Menu > Friends
Step 2: Go to Menu > Friends > Manage Other IMs
Step 3: Go to Menu > Friends > Manage Other IMs > Add New IM
Step 4: Go to Menu > Friends > Manage Other IMs > Select an IM > IM name > Enter Username and Password

To set up your IM details:

1. Log in to mig33 on your mobile phone
2. Go to ‘Other IM’ from the menu
   
3. Select IM service you wish to log in to
4. Select Add/Edit IM
   
5. Update and Save your IM username and password
6. Sign in

What are friends

Friends are users on mig33 that you have added in your contact list. You are required to accept a person’s friend request before they can be added into your contact list.

What are chat rooms

Chat rooms are part of our service that provides venue for our communities to chat and meet new friends.

How do I add friends?

To add mig33 friends, go to Menu > Friends > Add by username/Phone number/Phone contact

Where is my profile

To check your Profile, go to Menu > Me > My Profile

How do I set my status

To change your status message, go to menu > update status message

How do I upload a photo

Login to mig33 > Menu > My Scrapbook > Upload photo.

How do I send a photo from my mobile?

With mig33, you can take a photo on your mobile phone and then send it to all your mig33 friends.

To send a photo from your mobile:

1. Open a chat window with a friend
   
2. In the chat window, select Menu –> Send Photo
   
3. Choose one of the following:
   • From Camera* (you will need to take a photo)
   • From Storage (your phone’s memory or file system)
   • From Scrapbook (your mig33 scrapbook)

   

Each picture you take is stored in your mig33 scrapbook. You can manage the scrapbook from the web site and publish pictures in your scrapbook.

How do I create a Profile?

You can create your own mig33 profile and share it with your mig33 buddies.

1. Select ‘My Profile’ and select ‘Edit Profile’
   
2. Choose your display picture. This will be the picture your mig33 buddies will see. You can select your display picture from the photos in your scrapbook or from your desktop if you are on a PC.
   
3. Fill out the any other fields with information about yourself.
   
4. Select ‘Public’ if you wish for your profile to be viewed by everyone in mig33, ‘Friends’ if only your mig33 buddies on your contact list can view your profile, or ‘Private’ so only you can see your profile.
5. Submit your profile and you’re done!

How can I view Profiles?

To find out more about other mig33 members, check out their profiles.

1. Log in to mig33 and select ‘mig33 community’ and search for any mig33 user
   or…
2. Select one of your mig33 buddies and select ‘view profile’ in options.
   

How do I add a buddy?

From the mig33 phone menu, go to “Add Contact”:

1. To add another mig33 user:
   Enter the mig33 username. When the user approves your request, you will see them online.
   
2. To add a non-mig33 user:
   Add a non-mig33 user as a phone contact on your contact list. This way, you can call them easily, without having to search through your mobile phone’s contact book.
   

What is mig33 email?

mig33 email allows you to send messages to your friend’s email account even when they are not logged on to mig33. When your friends log in, they can read your email.

Here are a few helpful tips for using mig33 email:

• If you get an error message that reads “You cannot use this feature. You must have an authenticated account”, you’ll need to send your mobile number and country of origin to contact@mig33.com and ask for an authentication code. This code will be sent to you via SMS.
• To receive mig33 email, you’ll need a mobile phone compatible with mig33 v3.0 beta or later versions.
• If you get an error message claiming that your username is mig33 email incompatible, you may have special characters in your username that email cannot support. We hope to resolve this issue soon.
• If you would like to get email notifications by SMS, click on the appropriate box when you register for mig33 email. If you have already registered for mig33 email, please do the following:
  • Click on the Mail icon on your contact list
  • Select ‘Settings’
  • Select ‘Yes’ when asked if you wish to receive SMS notification

  Note: each SMS notification costs AUD$0.10. when you are not using mig33, you will only get 1 SMS when an email reaches your mailbox. You will not receive any more SMS for subsequent emails.

• To turn off mig33 email SMS notification, simply log in to mig33 and follow these steps:
  • Click on the Mail icon on your contact list
  • Select ‘Settings’
  • Select ‘No’ when asked if you wish to receive SMS notification
• Unfortunately, you cannot change your mig33 email address. Your mig33 email address is username@mig33.com.
• Handy tip: to save time on page scrolling, select 3 for Page up. Select 9 for Page down.
• Each mig33 email message can be a maximum of 20KB in size and 320 characters in length.
• If you do not receive email messages from a friend, you will need to confirm that your mig33 email box is not full. To check this:
  • Click on the Mail icon on your contact list
  • Select ‘Space Used’

  Alternatively, please check to see that your friend is not on your block list

• Messages in mig33 may bounce if a friend’s email box is full or the address you entered is incorrect.
• If you accidentally delete a message, you can go to the Delete box, find the email and select ‘Undelete’. The email will then go back into your inbox. Please note that emails in the Delete folder will be automatically purged after 48 hours.
• At this time, you cannot send emails outside of mig33. We hope to offer this feature soon.
• To close your mig33 email account, please email contact@mig33.com with your username, mobile, password, and a request to close your the account.

How do I do a chat room search?

If you’re interested in a particular topic, want to find a friend’s chat rooms, or are looking for a chat room to join, you can search to find the one you’re looking for.

• Log into mig33 on your mobile phone
• Select ‘Chat Room’ on your menu options
• Go to ‘Search Chat Room’
• Enter the chat room name that you are searching for and select ‘Search’
• Pick the chat room that you would like to enter

Or, if you’re unsure what chat room you’re looking for, you can just scroll through our many chat rooms to find the perfect one.

How do I create my own chat room?

It’s easy to start your own club or group by creating your own chat room:

• Log into mig33 on your mobile phone
• Select ‘Chat Room’ on your menu options
• Go to ‘Create Chat Room’
• Enter your chat room name and select ‘Create’.

(Please do not use any inappropriate language when creating your chat room name.)

What is chat room safety?

Chat rooms are fun, but it’s always wise to use common sense when you’re talking to new friends. Here are some tips to help guide you and keep our chat rooms safe and friendly.

• Please do not offend others. All messages are logged and offenders will be banned.
• Never reveal personal information to strangers.
• Do not be pressured to provide personal information. Stay in control of the conversation.
• Do not use language or terminology that may be offensive to others.
• If arranging to meet a user in person, bring along a friend or tell a family member where you are going.
• The administrator will kick out or ban a user if they see inappropriate behavior.
• If a user is irritating you, block them so that you stop receiving messages from them.
• mig33 will never ask you for your password in chat rooms or in private chat. Please do not reveal your password to anyone in the chat rooms, even if they claim to be from mig33.
